Christmas in Louisiana

The Dees', Carters, and Quicks came over to our house on Christmas Eve. Everyone enjoyed good ole' Louisiana cuisine; BBQ shrimp, stuffed potatoes, Crawfish or crab and corn soup, and so on....and a good time was had by all!

Exciting News for Annabel and Cecil

Well, if you have not heard yet, Annabel is pregnant and will deliver twins in late May. Now, I know there are certain things that immediately pop into your mind:

1) Oh My God!!!

2) Is Annabel crazy?

3) Is Cecil crazy?

4) Don't they know how old they are?

5) What are they thinking?

So, the answers are: he already knows, yes, yes, yes, and we don't know. Actually Annabel has dreamed of being a Mother all of her life. We had tried for several years but had long ago given up with the thought that it was just not meant to be. But then God stepped in and said to Annabel, " You have prayed to me many, many times wanting to be a Mother so I am sending you two little miracles to fulfill your life". And to Cecil he said, "You look mighty comfortable with your life but you still have a lot more to learn plus I still owe you one over that stolen watermelon episode in Collins so here come two little miracles for you". So, here we are. Take a look at us now. We are crazy happy and hope that everyone is as joyful about the new Quick's to be as we are. Here are two ultrasound photos taken of twin "A" and twin "B". My greatest hope is that if these two little ones turn out anything like Courtney and Gregg, we will truly be blessed. My love and Christmas wishes to you all.

Annabel Sings for Her Supper

Annabel and a supporting choir of 360 singers performed at the City of Orange Tree Lighting Ceremony last night. They were accompanied by a full sixty piece orchestra and gave a fantastic Christmas story performance. The lighting and decorations were beautiful and the crowd of several thousand celebrated mightily. The photos are of: Arcy, Bob and me (two of our running friends who will marry next year), Annabel in the choir located at about dead center, orchestra with Mike Short conducting, Annabel above the first girl in blue on the first row from the left, Mike Short in action at right, and a view of the entire choir.

Thanksgiving In Switzerland

I was invited to a two day training session in Switzerland over the Thanksgiving weekend. I was there about eight days and had a wonderful trip. Annabel was not able to go due to prior committments. While there, everyone came up to me speaking Swiss German at ninety miles a minute assuming I was also Swiss. I had to wait several sentences before I could break in and let them know. Everyone was friendly and most spoke some English. I saw a soccer game and a riot afterwards in Zurich between Zurich (winner) and Basal (they have a feud that rivals the Civil War). I stayed in Rapperswil at the Hotel Jakob next to a castle built in 1283. The scenery was exactly as you would picture it in your mind. The weather was not too cold with clouds and sun alternating daily. The pictures are of: the home of the Tyco engineering manager who invited me to dinner with his family, the bridge in Rapperswil leading to the Lake Zurich coast, a catherdral high in the mountains, me eating lunch in Engleberg at 2,800 meters (God knows how high that is, meters mean nothing to me), Mount Titlis, fellow students enjoying a pizza, town square at Rapperswil with the castle high left and the Hotel Jakob at immediate right, and three Americans consuming wine at an old monastery just to fit in. By the way, Thanksgiving means absolutely nothing in Europe so I missed all the good food , football, and family fun but it was great. Love to all.
