Weekend at Hester's

I was lucky enough to be able to visit with Mom on the 19th thru the 22nd of this month. We had a lovely time, talking and laughing. Bill was also there being very supportive of Mom. We are all lucky that they have such a good friendship and can look out for each other a bit. I did a four mile run and which took me by the cemetary. I started crying as I approached Dad's grave site and went down on my knees in sorrow. I usually try to remember Dad with the happy memories I hold in my heart but visiting in person, well my emotions just spilled over me with great sadness. I kissed his grave stone and continued on my run. All three of us ate at the catfish place in Prentiss and the hot fish was about the best I can ever remember. Charles came down for Saturday dinner and the three of us had many uncontrollable laughs remembering everything good in our lives (and yes, we talked about each and every one of you). Charlie looks great and has overcome the operation in a wonderful show of strength and style. I fixed some doors that were sticking in Mom's bathroom and in the bedroom I was in. I hugged her as many times as I could and kissed as often as she would allow. I am amazed at the life she has lead and at the dedication she has shown to all of us children and especially to Dad. She is truly an angel walking in this old world and we are all so blessed to know her and bask in the glow of her love. My love to you all.

Family Support for a REAL Winner!!

Sheridan has joined 4H this year and entered the parish cooking contest this past Saturday. At my urging, she made Memaw's Banana Cake recipe for the competition. As you can see from the picture, the cake turned out beautiful. It also tasted scrumptious and is mostly gone. We were very excited that she won a blue ribbon, meaning she was in the top group of the dessert category. She did not place in the top 5. We are very proud of her and her cake, but a little disappointed at the judges comments. After taking barely a forkful from the outside of the cake, the judge wrote that the icing was too sweet and maybe she should consider icing the cake with Cool Whip! (A travesty!!) They took off 13 points for that and another 2 for not using lowfat milk in the recipe. Unbelievable! I know all the Quick's can understand our frustration.

MEMAW
I talked to Mom. She said Cecil was flying in Thursday for a visit before he goes to Houston for a conference. Glad he's there. Let us know how it went,Cec? Chris flew to California Thursday to help a handicapped minister-to-be at a conference. He's in Pasadena.

Hi to all,
I'm still recovering from my recent trip to Collins and Baton Rouge. I hate unpacking. Boddie and Vicki's wedding was BEAUTIFUL! I loved seeing everyone. Let's get together again...SOONER this time.

New Recruit
Howdy Ya'll! Looks like I finally got my invitation to join the family blog and it was an offer I couldn't refuse. I have enjoyed looking at all the pictures and will be posting some of my family real soon. Boddie and Vicki's wedding was absolutely fabulous. I wish everybody could have been there. The young tall blonde guy with the maroon shirt on is Hance. Can you believe it? 15 years old and 6'1". He's such a handsome fellow. I think he looks like his mom. Seriously, he could be a model. Thanks for letting me join in the fun. I will be posting again real soon. Love you guys. Keep on bloggin'.
